Most Legit week ever! Thanks for praying for these people guys its made a difference. Sosaia and William where baptized this week, and it looks like we have another for the 30th if everything goes well (I might not even be here because of transfers) but either way It will be great. Mike Price is his name. He’s been an investigator for over 3 years or something like that. It's just that he’s finally wrapping up some things that were keeping him from getting baptized. He just needs to straighten some legal leasing issues out on the 25, and if he does that then we are good for the 30th.
We are teaching a 99% atheist. His name is George Gomez, his family is from Portugal. He grew up catholic but now that he’s this major in physics guy he doesn't really believe in God. However he is really interested in religions for some reason, and particularly the "Mormons" and their social structure. He was asking us some really tough questions, and sorta forcing us to get into some deep speculative doctrine that we really are not too knowledgeable on. However it was an interesting lesson/conversation. He has absolutely no concept of how faith works wich makes it hard for us to explain certain things like prayer. However he surprised us and showed up at church this past Sunday. We have a return appointment for Wednesday.
Mari Larson (not Mary Larson) is doing well. She is happy to go to church without a ride, especially this past week, because the weather has been so great. It got up to 90 yesterday and has been at least 78-85 the rest of the week. We have a baptismal date goal for her too, but no set date, because her family from Utah wants to be there, and they need to coordinate times n stuff
I talked to Connie's son in law David "the poet" (can’t remember last name). But that was one of the most powerful discussions I have had talking to some one. I pretty much taught the first lesson, and it was pretty rough on my part, but still I could feel the spirit so strongly. I gave him a Book of Mormon, and he says he wants to learn more. He lives in Long Beach and was only visiting Connie (one of our investigators) so he’s out of our mission. But it was really cool talking to him. He was on a spiritual journey and tried Buddhism to Scientology but he was lead back to Christianity. All he needs now is the next step and be lead to the Everlasting Gospel of Christ which has been restored today!
Please pray for those mentioned here but also pray for Bro. Carrasco who is having health problems again. He’s suffered two strokes and forgot a lot of his English and Spanish, and he might be coming up on another one. He’s one of the LA (Less Actives) we teach, but he’s only LA because of his health and lack of transportation. He’s done a ton of stuff in his life. He’s lost millions of dollars because of bad partners in business. And he worked for the weight house for 30 + years. He has been involved with NASA, the CIA, and a bunch of other things. His main job was filming and interviewing people for the White House and other Agencies. He is probably one of the coolest people I've met so far.
Also pray for Walker Burr who is one of the youth that is struggling with his faith in the ward.
Today we are visiting quite a few people, hopefully they are all there. We are teaching Connie again, and we are going to follow up with Luice Nunez, and we are also hopefully teaching this potential investigator who is from Uganda Africa. Her son was converted there not long ago, so that is why she is interested now. She just came back visiting from there a month ago. HAHA I bet Brice Vancherie probably had a hand in converting her son. We have been trying to get to her for a couple of weeks now. Here name is Nejemba and I hope we can finally catch her today, she works so much!
We are continuing to teach Sosaia and William the new member Lessons too. Their baptism was probably one of the most spiritual experiences I have had so far out in the field. Their step dad Bro. Inoke did the baptisms. It was an extremely smooth baptism. No flakiness or any hitch ups, and every one who was supposed to speak showed up.
It's the 17th and I have less than a month before I can do push ups again :D
