Dear Mother and Family,
We had one of the first really good weeks in a long time up here in Canyon Country California. My Comp and I got along pretty good, and he had minimal trunkyness with a dash more positivity while doing missionary work. It was great!
Last Monday was pretty crazy. We had an awesome P-Day planned, we were planning on going down to the valley to go to White Lotus (a Parkour/Tricking Gym) and then go to Tri-zone after, which is where all of the thee zones in the San Fernando Valley meet to play soccer, B-ball, Foot Ball, Frisbee, and in my case practicing flips XD Our plans were cut short when we were informed right after we had got our shopping done that they had sold our district's truck and we had an hour to get it to the office. So we dropped it off at the office, and with no mode of transportation back we ended up walking 12 miles back until we were tired, and then we called a member to give us a ride the rest of the 8 miles back to our apartment.
Our mission President challenged the mission to knock at least 10 doors a day. We did, and we didn't find any one knocking, but we did end up getting a new investigator from a potential we had found a while ago, and we now have a family we are teaching and have din din this Tuesday with them. Brian we actually found while out knocking with one of the teachers at the beginning of this transfer. He's really cool, hes an older guy (50's) that met with sister missionaries almost 30 years ago. He actually wants to read and pray about the Book of Mormon and find out whether or not it is true. The family that we are teaching now we actually contacted my first week here in Canyon Country and are just now starting to teach.
Some of our other investigators who were stuck, are starting to progress again! We finally got Pamela, who is just 16, to come to church a couple weeks, and we made sure she made some friends there. She has a good fellow shipper now and is on track again.
Sister Cuthbertson is progressing steadily. Ever since we got her to stay for Relief Society she has been loving church a lot more. She's probably our best prospect at this point, but Shay is a close second. He's so ready for baptism the only problem is his parents. They are not against it, and we had a set date, but we now know that they are all thinking that want to get involved if Shay is getting involved in the church. We have an appointment to teach their whole family Wednesday. His Mom, Barbara, is not a member but his dad Josh is a member that wants to start getting back to church. Hopefully we can set some fire in Josh and motivate him to motivate his family. He is the key here.
Oh, I crashed my bike twice this week on Thursday and Friday. The first time is because I was trying to skid to a stop on a dirt patch in the road. The second one was a bit worse. We passed one of our investigators on the bike path and I turned my head to wave and shout at him, but when I turned back to see what was in front of me my comp had stopped. I ran strait into his back tire, and did a flip over the handle bars. I was ok, but I scraped and bruised my knee and tore a hole in my light gray pants. My bike locks up on some gears now some times, but its not to big a deal. My comp is fine. Didn't do a thing to his bike or him. I ran directly into the back tire, and It just bounced off of him.
Well got to get off now and let another Elder email his family--Elder Vance actually. He went to Lone Peak and he knows all of the Little Thompsons. Hes in my zone!
Love you guys, Till next week
Elder Rickers
